Dedicated to promoting and showing Venezuelan cinema in Vancouver

In this third edition of the Venezuelan Film Festival we will present three feature films that have been acclaimed by the audience, and nationally and internationally recognized.

This year, we want to pay special tribute to the family drama, thriller-horror and romantic comedy genres of Venezuelan cinema with the following movies:

Patas Arriba - Second film by the photography director Alejandro García Wiedemann, which was proposed by Venezuela for the 2013 Goya Awards.

La Casa del Fin de Los Tiempos - This worldwide Venezuelan blockbuster has been recognized with 13 international awards and will have a new edition produced by the Hollywood industry.

Papita, Maní, Tostón - Having been projected for almost 6 months, this movie became the  biggest box-office hit in the history of Venezuelan cinema.

Synopsis: Renato who knows that his time is running out, teaches his six-year-old granddaughter, the value of friendship and respect towards other people's views. Renato has three children; Montserrat, his divorced daughter, who takes care of him, Anita who has a failing marriage, and his son Salvador. The daughters have decided to send him to a hospital against his will. But with the help of his granddaughter Carlota, he plans to escape and sail from Venezuela to Salvador de Bahia in Brazil, as he once promised his deceased wife.
